Five Ten Shoes Frequently Asked Questions

Five Ten’s originally took their name from the 5.1 climbing gradient used to describe an intermediate climb in the US. Founder Charles Cole was a keen climber who developed shoes for rock climbing in the 198s.
While you can of course walk about in Five Ten cycling shoes during your active adventures, it’s not recommended to use them for everyday daily wear as they will wear out quicker and may be less comfortable. Climbing shoes on the other hand are not suitable for hiking, as they are shaped and designed for gripping rocks rather than walking about.
Generally speaking, Five Ten shoes are true to size, so you should order your regular size. If you prefer your shoes to fit a little tighter you can go a half size down, or conversely if you prefer them looser you might go half a size up.
